Through their youth outreach programs, the Syracuse City Ballet (SCB) introduces children from all socio-economic backgrounds to the power and beauty of ballet. The SCB brings ballet programming to city schools as well as offering children-specific programs during their season. Additionally, they offer opportunities for local young dancers to develop their skills, build confidence, and share their gifts in the SCB’s professional performances.
The Northern New York Community Foundation raises, manages and administers an endowment and collection of funds for the benefit of the Northern New York community. The Foundation makes grants to support the work of non-profit organizations, redevelopment of downtown business districts, and provides scholarships to individuals in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) helps to safeguard the regional landscape of the 1000 Islands by acquiring property and establishing accessible areas available for public enjoyment. TILT protects over 8,500 acres of land, including important wetland, grassland and woodland habitat. This includes preserves and over 40 miles of trails that are open to the public, year-round. Their yearly programming also includes children’s educational programs that promote living, learning and conserving in the 1000 Islands.
